Staphyloma, huge, in a young boy OD

Severe corneal pathology with perforation may lead to staphyloma. It is prolapsed iris that is converted into cicatricial tissue at the point of perforation of the cornea. If the staphyloma should perforate, phthisis might result. Enucleation was perfomed on this patient's right eye.
