Crusting blepharitis with extension into the brows-OU

Unusually severe case of crusting blepharitis with eyebrow involvement OU. The impetiginous appearance of the lesions prompted the following treatment: immediate hospitalization - a private room to avoid cross infection; regular applications of tolerably hot water compresses; lid scrubs with an appropriate soap, e.g. Johnson's Baby Shampoo, to remove loosened crusts; an appropriate antibiotic eye ointment- Neosporin -was applied liberally to the lesions after the scrubs and at bedtime to the eyes; Neosprin drops were applied to the eyes during the day;systemic antibiotic treatment with penicillin was also initiated together with high vitamin doses by injection and by mouth ; and proper nutrition and general hygiene were initiated.
