Notching of upper lid margin with trichiasis - result of trauma

As the surgeon enters into the sanctity of the lid margin, his responsibility ever increases. The photo shows the results of lidmargin repair following a laceration of that area. Healing has left a notch in the margin with an accompanying trichiasis. Surgery was done in the 1940s. With modern oculoplastic techniques, this type of margin deformity is much less likely to occur.
