Fishhook Cataract

This video illustrates an interesting case of traumatic cataract. A 3-year-old boy had been struck with a fish hooks 2 weeks before and his corneal laceration had been repaired. The hook went through the cornea, iris, lens and the barb came out through the sclera near the pars plana. The initial repair was nicely done and prevented an infection, but the boy developed a cataract. He had synechiae from the iris to the lens due to an inflammatory reaction which had settled down in the two weeks since the injury.
