Eversion of the upper eyelid

Richard C. Allen, MD, PhD, FACS
Additional Notes: 00:28

Eversion of the upper eyelid is mandatory in order to examine the upper palpebral conjunctiva.  This can be performed with practice with your fingers alone.  A cotton-tip applicator can also be used.  The applicator is placed in the sulcus of the upper eyelid and the lashes are grasped and everted over the applicator.
