Radial Rhexis Recovery: Radial Tear With Single Piece IOL In Bag

Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD

This video demonstrates how I like to deal with an anterior capsular tear. The technique involves sculpting out a bowl in the nucleus using very low vacuum and low flow followed by a gentle chop before any hydrodissection. This allows you to hydrodelineate or hydrodissect and the nucleus to collapse rather than create pressure on the posterior capsule, which can cause extension of the radial tear.
