Traumatic Cataract
Thomas A. Oetting, MS, MD
This patient had blunt trauma which resulted in a cataract and mydriasis. We removed his cataract and placed a capsular tension ring just prior to placing the IOL. Then we placed 2 10-O Prolene sutures in the iris, one at 3 and one at 9 o'clock, to lessen the mydriasis. We used the Siepser sliding knot technique to tie the suture with Prolene suture.
