Orbital dermoid cyst
Contributor: Jesse Vislisel, MD
Orbital dermoid cysts are congenital cystic masses that may enlarge slowly over time. Preseptal orbital dermoid cysts are most common in the lateral brow. If excision is planned, imaging may be necessary to evaluate for orbital extension. These photographs show a young patient with a preseptal orbital dermoid cyst in the typical location. MRI did not show any orbital extension. The second photograph was taken 1 week after the lesion was excised.
