Hypoplasia of the iris

Complete absence of the iris is extremely rare. In a patient who is said to have aniridia, gonioscopy usually will reveal a rudimentary iris. In this child a hypoplastic iris was evident without resorting to gonioscopy. Circumferentially, there was considerable variation in hypoplastic width.
