A review of many 35mm Kodachrome eye slides dating back to 1951 reveals a great variation in the anatomy of the caruncle, the plica semilunaris, and the adjacent bulbar conjunctiva. In this photo there is a papillomatous formation in the bulbar conjunctiva not far from a normal appearing plica semilunaris.
