This is Richard Allen at the University of Iowa. This video demonstrates an inferior turbinate infracture which is useful in cases of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in addition to probing and stenting when there is not a lot of room under the inferior turbinate.
A Freer periosteal elevator is slid along the lateral nasal wall medial to the inferior turbinate.
The end of the Freer is then rotated medially to move the inferior turbinate medially.
A suction tip is then placed in the area of the inferior meatus to demonstrate the increase in the space in this area.
